Terms of Use

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the Policybean website and application (the “Service”), operated by Policybean (“Policybean”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Policybean lets you record and track your insurance policies and loans, upload policy documents, see charts of your totals over time, and receive reminders. Policybean is not an insurer, insurance broker or agent, bank, lender, financial institution or consumer reporting agency, and does not connect to your financial accounts.

Policybean provides information and organisation tools only. Nothing in the Service is financial, investment, insurance, tax or legal advice, and nothing is a recommendation to buy, keep, surrender, borrow against or cancel any policy or loan.

Figures shown are based on what you enter or upload and on simple calculations, such as interest estimates. They may be incomplete, out of date or wrong. Always confirm values with your insurer or lender and consult a qualified professional before making decisions.

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract. The Service is intended for users in the United States.

• Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
• Keep your password confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account.
• One account per person. Do not share your account or create accounts for others.
• Tell us right away at support@policybean.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

Policybean offers a free plan with limits and a paid plan with higher limits. Current prices and what each plan includes are shown on our Pricing page.

• Payment. Paid plans are billed in advance through Stripe, monthly or yearly depending on the plan you pick. We do not store your full card details.
• Renewal. Paid plans renew automatically at the then-current price until you cancel.
• Cancellation. You can cancel any time from Settings (Billing). Your plan stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and you will not be charged again.
• Refunds. Fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
• Price changes. We will give you advance notice of any price change; it applies from your next renewal.
• Failed payments. If a payment fails we may retry it and, if it still fails, downgrade your account to the free plan.
• Taxes. Prices exclude applicable taxes, which are added where required.

You agree not to:

• use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or misleading;
• upload information or documents you have no right to use, or that belong to someone else without their permission;
• scrape, crawl or use bots or automated means to access the Service, except as we allow;
• reverse engineer, decompile or try to extract the source code of the Service;
• probe, test or circumvent security, rate limits or plan limits;
• upload malware or interfere with the Service or other users;
• resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties;
• use the Service or its outputs to build a competing product or to train AI models.

“Your content” means the policy and loan details, documents and other information you put into the Service. You keep all rights in it. You give us a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to host, store, process and display it solely to provide, secure and support the Service for you.

You are responsible for your content, including its accuracy and your right to upload it. We may use aggregated, de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you to understand and improve the Service.

Some features, such as reading uploaded policy documents, use third-party AI models. Outputs can be inaccurate or incomplete. Review every extracted value against the original document and correct anything that is wrong. AI outputs are illustrative and are not advice. Please see our Privacy Policy for how documents are handled.

The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics and the Policybean name and logo, is owned by us or our licensors and protected by law. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use under these Terms. All other rights are reserved. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

The Service relies on third parties such as Supabase, Stripe, Resend, Anthropic and Vercel, and may link to other sites. Their services are governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for their content, availability or practices.

We may add, change, limit or discontinue features at any time. If we discontinue a paid feature you are using, we will tell you and, where appropriate, refund the unused part of your prepaid fee.

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, misuse the Service, fail to pay, or where required by law. We will try to give notice where practical.

When your account is deleted, your data is removed as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including 3, 14, 15, 16 and 17, will survive.

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure, or that any figures, calculations or AI outputs are correct.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Policybean will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose or US$100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

You agree to defend and indemnify Policybean and its owners, personnel and providers against claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms or of any law.

Informal resolution. Before filing a claim, contact us at support@policybean.com and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.

Arbitration. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware and the Federal Arbitration Act. Any dispute not resolved informally will be settled by binding individual arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its consumer rules, except that either of us may bring an individual claim in small claims court.

You and Policybean each waive the right to a jury trial and to bring or take part in any class, collective or representative action.

• These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between us about the Service.
• If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
• Our failing to enforce a right is not a waiver of it.
• You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
• You will comply with applicable export and sanctions laws.
• Nothing here creates a partnership, agency or employment relationship.

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you by email or in the app before they take effect and update the date above. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated Terms.
